Raffle 43. Prize: Handmade and Framed Tatreez by Alex Collis - Ticket
Celebrant Alex Collis (she/her) is also skilled in embroidery and is donating a beautiful handmade and framed Tatreez sampler (measuring 33 x 30 cms) as a raffle prize. The raffle prize winner will have a choice from one of two designs.
Alex is a non-religious Cambridge-based wedding, naming and funeral celebrant who loves to fill her ceremonies with colourful, creative touches. As a way of looking after her wellbeing while dealing with heavy things, she taught herself cross stitch and it's now one of her greatest loves.
Tatreez, meaning "embroidery" in Arabic, is used to refer to the traditional style of embroidery practiced in Palestine and Palestinian diaspora communities. The practice is passed down through generations and has also become a contemporary symbol of cultural resistance and solidarity, in the face of attempted erasure.
